1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it fills up.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots that we evaluated the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is empty it will return to its docking station, automatically emptying its dirt into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or via the app.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin that removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households and can fit nicely on the table for a coffee or shelves where you can move it around like a magic wand.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to meet the task being performed. It can quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.
The model comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also provides an easy access to two attachments and an Wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a standard battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. This is enough time to clean the typical home but not enough to reach every area. (A second pass is usually sufficient). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area multiple times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice addition.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It didn't do very well in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords.
